There were more than 21 million surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures performed worldwide in 2015, an increase of over 1 million reported cosmetic procedures from 2014.
- Botulinum Toxin, (including BOTOX® Dysport and Xeomin) was ranked the most popular cosmetic procedure overall.
- 9.6 million surgical procedures were performed in 2015.
- The cosmetic surgical procedures performed most frequently were:
- Breast Augmentation (up 10% vs. 2014)
- Liposuction (up 2% vs. 2014)
- Eyelid Surgery (down 11% vs. 2014)
- Abdominoplasty (up 11% vs. 2014)
Women had more than 18 million surgical and nonsurgical procedures, 85.6% of the total. The top five surgical procedures performed on women in 2015 were: breast augmentation, liposuction, eyelid surgery, abdominoplasty, and rhinoplasty.
Men had more than 3 million surgical and nonsurgical procedures, 14.4% of the total. The top five surgical procedures performed on men in 2015 were: eyelid surgery, liposuction, gynecomastia, rhinoplasty, fat grafting and ear surgery.
